Mod Midwives: Perinatal Mental Health–an Interview with Dr. Courtney Klein

We were so pleased to conduct our first interview with Dr. Courtney Klein during the month of October, which features the World Health Organization’s designated World Mental Health Day on the 10th of the month every year.

Dr. Klein is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist, Clinical Associate at The Catalyst Center, Executive Director of the Ardent Grove Foundation, and serves as a member on the Board of Psychological Examiners for the state of Colorado.  She obtained her graduate degrees from the University of Denver’s Graduate School of Professional Psychology Center and has worked at various roles treating and training on trauma in private practice, community mental health centers, and in crisis care in the hospital system.

In our interview, Dr. Klein discusses how her career has led her to specialize in perinatal mental health, and, more specifically, birth trauma. Dr. Klein discusses signs and symptoms of perinatal mood disorders, risk factors for developing a disorder, and treatment options–from talk therapy to EMDR to medication.

We hope you’ll tune in to our interview and that you’ll find it as fascinating as we did! Thanks again to Dr. Klein for sharing your time and talents with us!
