Meet the Midwives
Hello! Gina has transitioned to a Denver area birth center: Colorado Birth and Wellness and Nedra has retired from midwifery. While we are no longer offering home birth services in Denver, we hope that you will find some good information here. Hope to see you at the birth center!
Gina Gerboth has been a midwife in Colorado since 2010. She is a Certified Professional Midwife (registered in the state of Colorado) and International Board Certified Lactation Consultant. She is a core faculty member at Midwives College of Utah. She teaches continuing education courses locally and has presented nationally at the Midwives Alliance of North America annual conference and online for Gold Midwifery and the National Association of Certified Professional Midwives. She was recently elected to the Board of Directors for the Midwifery Education Accreditation Council and the Academic Collaborative for Integrative Health.
Gina holds a Master of Midwifery degree from Midwives College of Utah where she focused her studies and applied project on interprofessional collaboration and interprofessional education. She also holds a Master of Public Health degree with a concentration in Maternal and Child Health from the Colorado School of Public Health and a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Colorado in Political Science with an emphasis in Women’s Studies (1995). She is also a Nationally Registered Emergency Medical Technician.
Gina is married to her high school sweetheart, and is the mother of three sons, two of whom were born at home. When not busy with her practice, teaching, or other responsibilities, she enjoys knitting, reading, and spending time relaxing with friends and family.
Nedra Hale is a Certified Professional Midwife and childbirth educator who has enjoyed successful and busy midwifery practices in both Arizona and Colorado since her licensure in 2008.
Nedra’s journey to midwifery began in the late nineties, when she became a certified childbirth educator. Soon, she began training as a birth doula, and discovered through this work that she believed she could better serve mothers and babies as a primary provider. Nedra attended the Arizona School of Midwifery and trained under wonderful, experienced midwives in Arizona, before practicing there. In 2011, Nedra moved to Colorado to care for her ailing mother, and began serving the home birth community in the Denver area as a Colorado Registered Midwife.
Nedra is the mother of four children, three of whom were born at home. When she is not busy working, she spends as much time as possible outside, hiking the beautiful Colorado trails. Nedra and her children enjoy learning through adventure at every opportunity, and when the weather isn’t ideal for adventure, she may be found sewing like mad to finish another project, or curled up with a book by the fire.

I first met Nedra in 2011 when I was pregnant with what would be my second child. I drove down to Denver from the mountains for my prenatal visits. I really enjoyed getting to know her, even though I probably only had 2 or 3 visits before I left town for the summer. Unfortunately, early into that summer away, I went into premature labor and ultimately lost the babies. (I had just found out that I was pregnant with twins!) However, during the whole ordeal Nedra was available to me over the phone giving me advice and support – and it was SO appreciated. When I finally got pregnant again in 2013, she was the first person I called. Unfortunately, she wasn’t available during my due date, because she had that time blocked off for a family vacation, so she gave me a list of four other midwives she recommended. Gina was on that list. And after talking to all of the options, I felt the best about Gina. She sounded competent, yet very positive – and I needed that positive energy after my previous ordeal. As I got to know Gina, I learned that she takes her mission very seriously and is constantly striving to learn more and stay on the cutting-edge of the profession. I believe she’s a leader in the advancement of the midwifery cause. Also, I’d like to add that I when I found out I was pregnant in 2013, I was out of town for the summer again. When I had an early episode of severe bleeding (before I had an official care provider), I called Nedra. Once again she provided me with caring and compassionate support. I can’t tell you how much this meant to me. So needless to say, I was pretty bummed that Nedra wasn’t going to able to attend my birth due to her vacation, but after getting to know Gina, I was certainly happy to have her on my team! I had no doubt that I made the right choice for our family. But as luck would have it, my baby came a few weeks early, and Nedra was able to attend my birth after all – as Gina’s assistant! I couldn’t have been more thrilled to have the two best midwives I know attend my daughter’s birth. I would highly recommend either one of them, but the fact that Gina and Nedra are partnering is a huge win for anyone that would engage their midwifery services. You are guaranteed highly competent, compassionate care with this duo.
