a metro midwifery skills workshop

This 8-hour suturing workshop will cover the basics of laceration assessment and suturing. Skills covered include:

  • Anatomy of the vagina, perineum, and pelvic floor, including the pertinent muscles and nerves
  • Assessment and identification of laceration types and degrees, including information about referral procedures for 3rd and 4th degree lacerations
  • Selection of appropriate medications, instruments, suture material, and needles types required for repair of 1st and 2nd degree lacerations
  • Appropriate techniques for basic repair, including hands-on practice on a variety of materials

This workshop is intended to meet the requirements of Rule 20 in the Midwives Practice Act, as regulated by the Department of Regulatory Agencies.

Taught by Gina Gerboth, MPH, RM, CPM

$150 regular registration fee (midwives and student midwives seeking DORA suturing authority)

$75  student registration (those students not anticipating licensure within 6 months)

$50 non-refundable deposit; $100 refundable with 2 hours advance notice of need to cancel

Workshop begins promptly at 8 am, with a 1-hour break for lunch on your own, and concludes at 5 pm. Please be sure to plan appropriately for traffic.

Approved for 8 MEAC contact hours.
