a metro midwifery skills workshop
This 8-hour suturing workshop will cover the basics of laceration assessment and suturing. Skills covered include:
- Anatomy of the vagina, perineum, and pelvic floor, including the pertinent muscles and nerves
- Assessment and identification of laceration types and degrees, including information about referral procedures for 3rd and 4th degree lacerations
- Selection of appropriate medications, instruments, suture material, and needles types required for repair of 1st and 2nd degree lacerations
- Appropriate techniques for basic repair, including hands-on practice on a variety of materials
This workshop is intended to meet the requirements of Rule 20 in the Midwives Practice Act, as regulated by the Department of Regulatory Agencies.

$150 regular registration fee (midwives and student midwives seeking DORA suturing authority)
$75 student registration (those students not anticipating licensure within 6 months)
$50 non-refundable deposit; $100 refundable with 2 hours advance notice of need to cancel
Workshop begins promptly at 8 am, with a 1-hour break for lunch on your own, and concludes at 5 pm. Please be sure to plan appropriately for traffic.
Approved for 8 MEAC contact hours.
