Book Review of Welcome to Fatherhood: The Modern Man’s Guide to Pregnancy, Childbirth and Fatherhood

This week I had the pleasure of reading David Arrell’s new book, Welcome to Fatherhood: the Modern Man’s Guide to Pregnancy, Childbirth & Fatherhood. While not a father myself, I still found this book to be chalk-full of useful information and can see it being especially relevant to any soon-to-be dad/parent. Arrell did an excellent job at sharing tips and tricks to become better connected to your pregnant partner, better prepared for the birth itself , and generally ready for life as a parent. This book was witty, fast-paced and full of practical ideas and advice. My favorite part of the book was Arrell’s “Dad Tips” & “Super-Pro Tips” sprinkled throughout the chapters. All of his Dad Tips were simple and meaningful ways to connect to the pregnancy, your partner and/or your new baby.
Welcome to Fatherhood also has a lot of helpful pregnancy information so new parents are armed with knowledge from what a trimester is & what the anatomy scan entails to hormonal shifts and body changes. I think this book is geared specifically towards brand new parents, though any Dad or parent could find it beneficial. This book would be a great supplement to taking a childbirth education class. It’s easy to read, flows nicely & has humor sprinkled throughout making it the perfect book for any busy parent.
Whether you are a first-time parent or a seasoned father, Welcome to Fatherhood is a great book to add to your collection. Arrell dives past simply “being helpful and supportive” with more concrete and to-the-point tips, tricks and suggestions.  After reading Welcome to Fatherhood, Arrell hopes you’ll find that you are armed to be the best parent and partner possible.
